Role Summary:
In this role, the Product Engineer will be responsible for working on proactive quality and productivity projects on Configured Solutions Products. They will work on a mix of real-time evaluation, root cause, and corrective actions, as well as proactive quality, and productivity projects.



Essential Responsibilities:
This will include reviewing samples to perform engineering analysis, hands on troubleshooting, and evaluation of test samples. You must record and communicate findings in a fast-paced environment. This can include product line shut downs and rapid turn root cause and corrective action, as well as paced quality and productivity programs.

You will be responsible for reviewing returned product that writing failure analysis reports. You will review the failed product and write findings into an 8D report for internal or external use. The Product Engineer will run and be a part of a wide variety of quality and productivity projects.

As the Product Engineer, you will:

  • Be responsible for ensuring products are accurately documented with robust models, accurate drawings and BOMs, as well as appropriate CTQs and engineering instructions
  • Prepare and present projects to CIB with recommended qualification plans and next steps
  • Close coordination with manufacturing personnel will be essential
  • Be responsible for executing the project, including keeping a schedule, ensuring cross-function team supports and executes to the schedule
  • Be responsible for identifying and outlining new projects
  • Tear down and evaluation test samples after testing
  • May witness tests for real-time evaluation or root cause of test failures
  • Plan and coordinate with the lab for project based and Off-UL testing
  • Be required to write and submit test requests based on UL 489 requirements
  • Work heavily with the production engineers
  • Be a primary technology point of contact for the manufacturing plant and post sales service
  • Run Quality, Productivity projects, and provide real-time manufacturing support
  • Ensure robust design practices are maintained and changes to products are robustly evaluated and documented
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and 3rd party manufacturing contract company to execute projects, root cause issues, and put corrective actions in place (production, customer, and Off-UL)
  • Encourage an environment of collaboration and open dialogue
  • Have a high level of attention to quality including evaluation of scrap and ways to reduce it, root causing rejections, putting robust firewalls in place and working towards the corrective actions that allow them to be removed, identifying reasons for variation and designing out operator dependencies
  • Ensure robust documentation of product, changes, and projects


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability and willingness to travel 25% of the time


Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience with design, test and analysis tools required to sustain the residential circuit breaker products
  • Sound knowledge of UL489, Familiarity with UL 50, 67, and 98
  • Experience in design, analysis, and test circuit breakers
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with proven relationships and a collaborative approach
  • Demonstrated use of six sigma tools
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
