Role Summary: The Sr Staff Cloud Software Engineer is the foundation on which we build solutions for the Aviation industry. Responsible for designing, developing and testing software to create industrial Internet products and services. This role will design and build the automated infrastructure in AWS to support the hosting of complex components in a HA architecture. Our customers operate 24x7 and our solutions need to be stable and scalable to on-board new customers quickly and efficiently.
Essential Responsibilities: • Responsible for the engineering and live site operations for Cloud Service Infrastructure and the deployment, monitoring and stability of Cloud based applications • Deliver the IaaS and PaaS platforms that run select applications on the industrial Internet; ensure the engineering capabilities of PaaS include automated continuous delivery, Cloud application fabric, Operations infrastructure and specific services such as logging, monitoring and messaging delivered in an “as-a-service” model • Lead and support DevOps related activities • Identify and define non-functional requirements • Participate in strategic and tactical planning sessions • Identify opportunities for automation • Develop scalable solutions • Ability to take ownership of medium to large sized tasks and deliver while mentoring and helping team members • Demonstrates the initiative to explore alternate technology and approaches to solving problems • Skilled in opportunities for automation core data structures and algorithms and implements them using appropriate chosen language • Apply principles of SDLC and methodologies such as Lean/Agile, software and product security, scalability, documentation practices, refactoring, and testing techniques • Job might require to be on call during US daytime hours or on-call rotation over weekends
Qualifications/Requirements: • BS degree plus 10 years of experience or Master’s degree plus 8 years of experience or PhD degree plus 6 years of experience. Degree must be in a Software related field • Proven experience leading complex software projects under high demand environments • Proven experience with Java or any other high-level programming language across full SDLC • Proven experience with Continuous Integration Tools • Proven experience with scripting automation. Go or Python is a plus • Proven experience with cloud automation languages (Chef, Puppet, Ansible) • Experience with monitoring tools such as New Relic • Be prepared to provide clear examples on each of the 7 DevOps areas • Presentation Skills: ability to communicate with Senior Leadership • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills • Able to legally work in Mexico. Desired Characteristics: • Experience with AWS APIs and products; AWS certifications • Experience with Chef (or a similar tooling for infrastructure automation) • Experience with Mesos/Docker
