Role Summary: 12-Month FTC
Essential Responsibilities: Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Team Leader.
Responsible for the maintenance, Fault diagnosis and repair of all Mechanical, Civil and Structural assets on the facility.
Provision of a service function to the Operations department in order to maximize availability, minimize heat rate and protect the owner’s investment.
Carrying out breakdown and maintenance activities in accordance with prescribed quality system, procedures and OEM recommendations.
Supervision of support contractors providing specialised services and labour during peak maintenance periods and ensuring they have been inducted and are suitibly competent and fully aware of all site Environmental, Health and Safety legislation, regulations and requirements.
Active involvement in the effective implementation and running of all EHS programs.
Hands on and supervisory maintenance, diagnosis and repair of items including, but not limited to,- rotating machines, vessels, pressure pipework, cooling towers, steam systems, cranes, gas systems, structures, buildings, water treatment plants and valves.
Management of condition based maintenance programmes to determine condition status of rotating plant.
Populating and utilizing the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and recording of all planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
Work at all times to maximize availability and minimize heat rate to perform above the minimum levels under the O&MA.
Perform the prescribed duties under the facilities Safe Working Procedures System.
Mechanical Technician Cont’d.
Provide adequate cover for planned and breakdown maintenance. Also available for work outside of normal hours and, occasionally, at short notice when required to support business needs.
Execute and manage work in high risk environments such as confined spaces, working at height and DSEAR zones.
Provide planning assistance for scheduled and forced outages to maximise work and resource.
Generation of suitable and sufficient risk assessments for work completed on site as well as assessing the quality of risk assessments and method statements submitted by contractors.
Procurement and sourcing of spares and materials to enable plant repairs to be carried out.
Planning statutory and technical inspections and storing reports for audit purposes.
Ideally hold a recognised, indentured, mechanical apprenticeship.
Hold relevant qualifications to HNC or NVQ level 3
Experience of rotating equipment, hydraulic systems, pipework maintenance, lifting equipment and valves.
Will have at least 5 years’ experience in a medium to heavy industrial environment, working in a multi-disciplined team with the ability to operate under their own initiative.
Knowledge and managing of lubrication of rotating equipment including oil sampling.
Will have a good general understanding of Microsoft office tools such as Word and Excel.
