Role Summary: The Centrifugal Compressor Application Engineer is a key role in the Commercial team contributing to the preparation of proposals and supporting the commercial organization in both deal closing and new opportunity discussions with customers, as well as contributing to the preparation of presentations for internal use and customers.
Essential Responsibilities: In the role of Lead Engineer - Customer Application Engineering, you will:
Develop Centrifugal Compressors designs for customer specific applications
Develop, prepare and write Centrifugal Compressor technical proposals, to include: compressor selection and performance calculations, rotor dynamic calculations, cost estimation, scope identification, deviations to client specifications etc, all according to company processes and procedures
Deep knowledge of various markets, applications and best technology to offer
Be knowledgeable of applicable API specifications for Centrifugal Compressor, driven equipment and related auxiliaries such as 614, 613, 671, 670 etc.
Be responsible for the compliance to customer technical specifications and identifying deviations
Ensure the technical aspects of a proposal are complete and compliant with the customer’s requirements and present our solutions in the most competitive way
Ensure the correctness of the scope of supply
Develop accurate costs of proposed solutions
Participate from a technical perspective in Customer presentations, discussions, negotiations, conferences, and all front line marketing / sales efforts
Drive internal targeted cost reduction for specific deals and overall products
Support and drive productivity / process improvement initiatives
Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team such as Engineering, Supply chain and external vendors to ensure timely flow of information
Work with the Region Commercial team as a key partner in the strategy development to create winning proposals, providing technical expertise in analyzing region Customer’s needs, and selecting and developing the most competitive BHGE technical solutions
Work with Region Commercial team to influence Customers’ specifications
Promote and position business early in the project phase by working closely with consultants, engineering companies and end users
Is accountable for EHS performance, with respect with compliance with programs and procedures, and fulfillment of personal Goals & Objectives
Bachelor Degree in technical field from an accredited college or university
Minimum 3 years of industry experience in a technical role as a Process Engineer, Design Engineer, Application Engineer, and/or Project Engineer
Travel 30% of the time with short notice, as required
Master’s Degree in Engineering with a concentration on turbo-machinery from an accredited college or university
Industry turbo-machinery experience, with equipment or controls
Knowledge of refinery and petrochemical processes and equipment.
Ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize and manage time
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Willing to work in a team and strives to make the Company succeed
Able to effectively communicate with peers and supervisors, has good influencing skills when dealing with other department to coordinate activities
Has a customer centric approach, able to deal with complex Customers and meet specific requirements when needed
Has a proven ability in understanding project needs in cross-functional view, negotiation and issue resolution skills
Able to work autonomously, takes lead in developing complex solutions, under pressure and with tight deadlines
