Role Summary: Your primary responsibilities are the creation of software releases and the management of the engineering configuration management and build system. This will include the creation, maintenance and monitoring of Jenkins jobs in our AWS cloud.
You will also assist with the monitoring and improvement of our continuous integration system which is comprised of tools and servers that perform the following functions:
Static code analysis
Code coverage analysis
Open source code analysis
Source code review & revision
Maintenance and improvement of the current systems will require a significant amount of scripting and possibly the redesign of an existing system. Exposure and familiarity with a variety of different sets of development and testing tools and environments would be a definite asset.
Identify the scope of the work, provide initial estimate and justify the estimate with facts
Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
Work closely with your peers and keep engaging in a fast pace technical design and development team
Execute in a fast pace delivery mode and focus in delivering tasks to meet the product release goal
Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
Possess advanced domain knowledge and show great customer focus.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 6 years of professional experience in Build/Release or DevOps or Master’s degree with 4 years of experience in Build/Release or DevOps or PhD with 2 years of experience in Build/Release or DevOps
Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.

Must be willing to travel less than 15%
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Vancouver, Canada
Experience running build systems on AWS is highly desired
Strong knowledge of popular Linux distributions such as Ubuntu and CentOS
Knowledge of Linux or Unix internals and administration is highly desired
Experience with software security vulnerabilities and the ability to deploy secure Linux infrastructure is desirable
Proficiency in using the typical Linux toolbox of open source software and management tools
Experienced in building Linux distributions with Yocto
Working experience with PXE boot, ISO creation and installation is desired
Proficiency in managing VMware hosted VMs via vSphere
Knowledge of VMware/AWS API scripting is highly desired.
Scripting proficiency with shell, Perl and/or Python.
Understanding of network protocols is desirable
Experience with the following types of tools is desired:
continuous build tools such as Jenkins is desired
code quality improvement tools such as Coverity, Bullseye and Jacoco is desired
configuration management tools such as Gerrit, git or Github is desired.
test automation tools like Selenium and Protractor is desired
server deployment/configuration tools such as Chef, Puppet or Ansible
Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments
Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks
Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions
Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team
Able to work under minimal supervision
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with senior leadership with confidence and clarity
Able to work well with global teams, including time-zone flexibility
