Role Summary: As a Sr. Manager of software engineering you will apply your knowledge of management, software development methodologies, data modeling/simulation tools, architectural aspects, automation, application monitoring, best practices and efficient processes to build, maintain and operate critical components or a whole application/product in its entirety for Application Connect which build on top of Predix, GE’s Industrial Internet platform.
In this role, you will:
Build a rock-solid and high-performance software engineering team that can support GE partners and customers globally
Demonstrate very strong technical leadership and people management skills including solid communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of product & solution development, successful problem definition, decomposition, estimation and resolution.
Influence decision making through active partnership with cross-functional teams
Contribute on technical aspects in strategic and day to day decisions and work, including dev ops/automation aspects, solution architecture and use case definitions.
Demonstrate the understanding of Agile software development lifecycle and able to distinguish the core inputs and outputs in each cycle.
Help lead strategic business partnerships and relationships through Technical, Budgetary, Contractual and Planning
Lead deployment (and related automation, monitoring, etc.) of GE Digital Applications in Predix instances across the world.
Coach, mentor and lead a diverse group of lean/agile software and user experience engineers
Maintain code quality through best practices, unit testing and code quality automation
Seek and provide feedback on design and development
Demonstrate the ability to make informed technology choices after due diligence and impact assessment
Understand whole product, its modules and the interrelationship between them while being an expert in the assigned component or module
Possess advanced domain knowledge and show great customer focus. Expert in processes / methodologies and Skilled in build, release & deployment processes
Articulate the need for scalability and understand the importance of improving quality through testing.
Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and applies existing technology to designs
Be responsible for providing technical leadership and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast paced and agile development environment using the latest software development technologies and infrastructure
Work with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements & vision
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in Software Engineering & Technical team leadership OR Master’s degree with 8 years of experience in Software Engineering & Technical team leadership.
4+ years in an Agile, Kanban, Scrum or other development methodology.
Minimum 2 years of experience in an engineering leadership / management role.
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Hyderabad
Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns and Java coding principles
