The Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
In particular, you will :
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
Document technical data and drawings generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Participate in proposal development as a mechanical packaging expert, steering the mechanical design, thermal, vibration, and other environmental design philosophy in the preferred direction and advising team members of the risks related to trade study choices
Prepare data items for projects including thermal, vibration, and other environmental reports
These reports will be the result of formal or informal analyses (at the appropriate level and with the appropriate tools)
Conduct and participate in peer reviews requiring mechanical inputs
Be knowledgeable in the application and interpretation of GD&T principles in ASME Y14.5M-1994 and later
Be proficient in Worst Case, RSS, and 6-Sigma tolerance analysis of mechanical parts
Be proficient in the use of NX (7.5.5 and later versions) for complex 3-D part and assembly modeling
Demonstrated proficiency in the creation and composition of engineering drawings according to applicable Military and Industry standards using the NX Drafting application
Be familiar with basic electrical engineering principles, and the application and use of electrical connectors and other interconnect products in product and test equipment
Familiar with machining processes, and have demonstrated ability to design products that are producible by these processes
Be proficient in the use of Teamcenter PDM
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering and product / test equipment design for electronic packaging / hardware
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT :
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment
5 or more years of experience in mechanical packaging / analysis of electronics in aerospace applications
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to influence others and lead small teams
Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact
Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
Effective problem identification and solution skills
Proven analytical and organizational ability
Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems - Current tools include:
ANSYS (Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
Flotherm (CFD / thermal analysis)
and NX (mechanical design)
Evidence of successful history working with virtual teams
Knowledge of civil and military mechanical or environmental design specifications
