Role Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual that is eager to learn and expand their horizons. In this role you will develop a technical understanding of propeller systems, how they are developed, and how we ensure safe and reliable operation. You will perform safety, reliability and maintainability (R&M) assessments to show that the propeller system system meets it's safety and (R&M) requirements.





Essential Responsibilities:
In this role you will developing an understanding of a propeller system and it integrates with the Engine and Aircraft by performing safety and R&M assessments on propeller systems. This will involve:
  • Developing an understanding of the safety and R&M assessment processes, and how they apply to a propeller system.
  • Authoring Safety and R&M program plans
  • Capturing, understanding and documenting the propeller system Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and R&M requirements.
  • Contributing to the integration of Safety and R&M considerations into system architectures in co-operation with other engineering functions
    Work closely with internal suppliers to develop supplier safety requirements and incorporate the results from supplier safety assessment into the propeller system safety assessment.
  • Performing Safety and R&M Analysis for Civil and/or Military aircraft propeller systems such as, common mode analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, Reliability Prediction, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Documenting outcome of analyses in reports
  • Supporting the UK Mechanical Safety Product Management Team (SPMT) to develop an understanding of how in-service safety concerns are raised and resolved.



Qualifications/Requirements:
The successful candidate will have:
  • An accredited degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics or similar subject, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience
  • An eagerness to learn about propeller systems, both from a mechanical design perspective and how they integrate with our avionics products
  • An analytic, collaborative approach to problem solving
  • Understanding of the systems design lifecycle within aerospace or a similar embedded systems development environment
  • Understanding of SAE ARP4754A, ARP4761 or similar rigorous development standard
  • Understanding of systems engineering and how it integrates with safety assessment process
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
