Role Summary:
Gearshafts Design Lead Engineer is expected to perform design activities within the GE NPI Mechanical Transmission Design organization, following all the on-going development activities with a particular focus to ATP gearshafts design and development. The position requires to follow the new product definition process from concept design to product detailed definition, certification and production support.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role you will:

  • build technical knowledge expertise in aeronautical gearbox components, especially gearshafts components
  • develop component design to achieve the objectives of performance, manufacturability, cost, life
  • issue the technical documents (ie models, drawings, reports, specifications) relative to the components design
  • proactively support activities with other Company departments and Suppliers, to achieve producibility and manufacturability targets
  • support Source Substantiation (Validazioni Tecnologiche) activities for gearbox components
  • support the relevant Supply Chain activities
  • support management of Quality Notifications (QN) for gearbox components (ie provide indications to manage defective components)

    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university
    • Experience in Mechanical Design
    • Experience in gearshaft design, preferably in aeronautical product
    • Experience with CAD tools (ie Unigraphics NX)
    • Experience with FEM tools (ie Nastran, Ansys)
    • English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral
    • PC proficiency
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to perform in a team environment
    • EU Work Permit

      Desired Characteristics:
      • Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies
      • Experience in gearshaft design, preferably in aeronautical product
      • New Product Introduction process experience
      • Experience in supporting production issues
      • Capability to work in multicultural environment
      • Curiosity and passion for mechanic design
