Role Summary:
The Lead Software Engineer will be a member of a software engineering team that designs, develops, integrates and tests embedded software applications that reside on Aircraft Health Management System, a key component of the GE Aviation Digital organization’s product strategy for both commercial and military customers.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, you will :


  • Develop embedded software for Vehicle Health Services functional applications
  • Actively improve the SW development processes and software applications
  • Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
  • Produce well designed code, with innovative ideas
  • Utilize proficiency in C / C++
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data is generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with Engineering policies and procedures
  • Leverage & employ Root Cause Analysis Techniques to support & drive resolution of complex & challenging issues
  • Respond to internal and external customer support requests
  • Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
  • Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
  • Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues

    Qualifications/Requirements:

    Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in the field of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field from an accredited university or college
  • A minimum of 4 years software development and / or test experience

    Eligibility Requirement:

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Enthusiasm for software development
  • Proficiency in C / C++ (embedded SW development)
  • Experience with RTOS such as Linux
  • Python familiarity & expertise
  • GCC Compilers familiarity & expertise
  • GDB debugger familiarity & expertise
  • Virtual Machine and code management familiarity (GIT / SVN / etc.)
  • Strong team working skills
  • Experience of planning software development work
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience leading software teams
  • Experience with regulated software development standards
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Working knowledge of DO-178B / C certification objectives
