Role Summary: This is a cross-functional discipline and considers the technical needs of business/customers to build quality products. They design and optimize requirements to define the system and verify they are executed from concept to operation. The Principal is a technology expert and responsible for product quality in respective areas. Named in the Technology Ownership Map they support the Chief, define the vision and direction for technology, discipline(s) or domain(s). Viewed as industry expert.
Essential Responsibilities: The LSD for Global Imaging Technologies will partner with SW architecture to lead product definition, design, and integration activities for the next generation IOT based Digital Imaging solutions. These solutions will integrate SW applications, SW platforms, and compute HW from across the Imaging modalities and platform teams including technologies from Predix and other industry leading 3rd party app & Digital solution providers.
• Conducts component and product integration. All activities that span multiple components and products and are concerned with how to integrate for maximum performance. • Manages product requirements and flow down. Drives validation and verification activities for the overall product, including system level testing. Responsible for defining product requirements for the module / component teams. • Responsible for driving CTQ / Risk trades within the teams designing the components and manages the overall product configuration and configuration control system (manages the how). • Is considered a senior and seasoned practitioner. Works on complex technological solutions, solving issues and developing new solutions require usage of methods and approaches with some precedence. • Has authority in the network of experts and in project teams. • Presents product / program strategies, technical roadmaps, risks and recommendations to senior leaders (EB and SEB) across GE. Inputs and influences decisions within own discipline and area. Communicates recommendations and solutions across direct organization and with cross-functional partner organizations. Involved in complex decision making sometimes with external parties.
Qualifications/Requirements: BS Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Electrical or Biomedical Engineering and 10 years of relevant work experience.
Desired Characteristics: • Experience working with others on a global basis • Exposure to iterative product development and program management techniques including Agile, FastWorks, and use of a CI/CD development pipeline • Familiarity with IOT digital solution concepts such as cybersecurity, SW virtualization, SW containerization, connectivity protocols, microservice architecture, application design, data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI) • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources • Applies knowledge to coach and mentor others • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives • Strong analytical and strong problem solving skills -communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions, anticipates obstacles and develops plans to resolve, creates actionable strategies and operational plans • Change oriented – actively generates process improvements, champions and drives change initiatives, confronts difficult circumstances in creative ways, balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly
