Role Summary:
The Sr Data Scientist will work in teams addressing statistical, machine learning and data understanding problems in a commercial technology and consultancy development environment. In this role, they will contribute to the development and deployment of modern machine learning, operational research, semantic analysis, and statistical methods for finding structure in large data sets.

Essential Responsibilities:
The Sr Data Scientist will be part of a data science or cross-disciplinary team on commercially facing and internal development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. They will work in technical teams in development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
• Identify and interpret data sources, manage large amounts of data, merge data sources together, ensure consistency of data-sets, create visualizations to aid in understanding data
• Accomplish data exploration and build mathematical models using the data, and communicate insights/findings in a simplified way
• Perform exploratory and targeted data analyses using descriptive statistics and other methods
• Adept in selecting features, building, and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
• Do data mining using state-of-the-art methods
• Execute the design, analysis, and development of assigned projects adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
• Effective multitasking and deliver on time with quality
• Generate reports, annotated code, and other projects artifacts to document, archive, and communicate the work and outcomes. Share and discuss findings with team members
• Guide junior data scientists

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Master's or PhD degree in Statistics, Machine Learning, Computer Science or related field plus 2 years of analytics development experience
• Demonstrated skill in the use of one or more analytic software tools or languages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R, Python)
• Demonstrated skill at data cleansing, data quality assessment, and using analytics for data assessment
• Demonstrated skill in the use of applied analytics, descriptive statistics, feature extraction and predictive analytics on industrial datasets
• Demonstrated skill at data visualization and storytelling for an audience of stakeholders

• Works effectively with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., Software teams, GE Business teams) and understands the interconnections between them
