Role Summary:
Gearbox Module Design Lead Engineer will perform concept studies and preliminary design of next gen mechanical transmissions systems, including integration in new large engine architectures, next gen turboprop and turboshaft power plant, hybrid systems. He/she will also support the definition and execution of the GBX technology maturation phase through the design of fastworks demos test articles and related systems for a range of subscale and full scale rigs.

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role you will:

  • Conduct technical feasibility studies and concept design of GBX modules for next engine opportunities (NGNB, NGTP, NGTS, GBX for Hybrid systems)
  • Define gearbox architecture making explicit the Design Intent, assuring the achievement of cost, weight and performance targets
  • Flow down system requirements to components definition (including definition of Mechanical/Functional Interfaces, stack ups and assembly checks)
  • Execute preliminary design activities such as system/product definition
  • Define technical specifications and manage relevant work packages
  • Execute detailed design of mechanical transmissions systems for test vehicles and technology maturation purpose
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated across the fastworks phases consistency with engineering policies and procedures
  • Support technical and program reviews

    • Master Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical(Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university
    • Experience in Mechanical Design of complex products
    • Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies
    • Clear thinking and diligent approach
    • English and Italian language knowledge, both written and oral
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills
    • EU work permit

      Desired Characteristics:
      • Capability to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience
      • Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies
      • Knowledge of CAD design tools (preferable NX & Teamcenter)
      • New Product Introduction process experience
      • Basis FEM tools knowledge
      • Strong oral and written communication skills
      • Curiosity and passion for mechanic design
      • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
      • Passionate, curious and enthusiastic for engineering challenges
      • System mindset and problem solver
