Role Summary: The Global Commodity Leader will be responsible for the EMD commodity for Industrial Solutions’ $300M plus annual buy. The position entails leading all phases of sourcing for assigned Commodity globally & requires skills necessary to identify cost saving opportunities, support fulfillment escalations, drive supply-base to utilize GE standard payment terms, create competitive environment,negotiate spend & collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive optimal total cost of ownership.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Global Commodity Leader, you will:
Develop, Lead and execute Sourcing strategy for assigned accounts / commodities
Develop annual plan to deliver cost-out, improved cash flow, increased Best Cost Country spend and minimization of constrained buy
Maximize cost-out on assigned buy via negotiation, redesigns, DMP (Direct Material Productivity), sub-tier component cost reductions as well as utilization of tools such as e-auctions, Should-Cost analysis, Data Analytic and benchmarking
Manage Sourcing activities for assigned buy including quoting, set up of Info Records / Sourced Codes in SAP
Provide sites support as needed for current and new designs
Work effectively with Site material, Engineering and Supplier Quality teams to address escalations and provide problem resolutions
Work closely with cross-functional teams on NPI projects including identifying new sources of supply, signing NDA’s and Supply / Development Agreements
Lead supply base consolidation in support of operational costs improvement and spend leverage
Drive supplier’s lead-time reduction and MOQ optimization for assigned buy
Work effectively with Cross-GE EMD team, Energy COE, Poles, and Sites’ sourcing people to maximize leverage globally and drive optimal results for the company
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or other technical field
Minimum of 8 years of Sourcing experience
Experience working for a large Corporation in similar global or regional capacity
Ability to effectively work across poles, cultures, and time zones to provide strong support to global stake holders
Ability and willingness to travel globally
Proven change agent with excellent facilitative leadership and problem-solving skills
Proven experience developing and Executing a Commodity Strategy
Demonstrated team player with a strong initiative to win
Aggressive self-starter and change agent
Excellent oral / written communication and influencing skills
Strong project / program management experience with a winning track record
