Role Summary: The Materials Application engineer provides direction and assistance to work group in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work both independently and with various teams to resolve materials issues related to business initiatives, new product introduction, production, and field service. The issues will require decisions on evaluations ranging from straighforward to moderately complex over both short and longer time frames.
In addition you will :
Using your Expertise / experience in metallic materials applications engineering, support the manufacture or design of metallic components along with evaluating field issues
Execute both independently and as part of a team, materials engineering review and analysis, preparation of test plans for material and process evaluations, executing on material and process recommendations, reviewing data / results with engineering leaders as required along with supporting other materials engineering activities
Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
Document and communicate results of technical data generated
Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
B.S. degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering role / position
MS degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science or Metallurgy from an accredited university or college is preferred
Experience with nickel and cobalt base superalloys, titanium alloys, and high strength steels
Experience with aerospace industry manufacturing, quality systems and field support a plus
Strong Oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to successfully work in a team environment
