Role Summary:
Responsible for developing, implementing, and leading programs to insure compliance with global environmental chemical legislative and regulatory requirements for the company’s products, facilities, and operations. The leader will work with GE’s businesses and various functions to identify areas of potential and emerging risk and provide practical support on compliance strategies and detailed chemical compliance expertise to address them.

Essential Responsibilities:
He/she will be responsible for coordinating with a remote team of other experts with responsibility for regional compliance and will work with legal and professional staff to assess the applicability of existing and emerging chemical regulations to GE’s products, facilities, and operations.
Role location preference is Cincinnati, OH- may be open to other GE US locations.
Responsibilities:
• Lead global chemical management compliance team under the supervision and direction of General Counsel, Environment, Health & Safety
• Support business regulatory teams on chemical compliance for new and existing products, facilities and operations
• Accountable for implementing regulatory requirements regarding chemical compliance across businesses
• Develop/adapt global chemical stewardship tools
• Work collaboratively with EHS product regulatory teams
• Assist global businesses in development and execution of programs to meet chemical product legislation requirements
• Stay current on rapidly developing technology for manufacturing and new products introductions to proactively manage regulatory compliance, including support for GE’s growing additive business
• Support EHS Product Stewardship transaction due diligence reviews
• Develop and deliver training on key aspects of applicable regulations
• Support to broader EHS team to ensure regulatory compliance for business products generally
• Support local Government Affairs team on related advocacy

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in chemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology or related sciences
• Minimum of 15 years’ professional related experience
• Deep experience and knowledge working specifically with chemical regulatory issues including proficiency in TSCA, FIFRA, REACH and analogous global laws and programs
• Strong knowledge of chemical product regulations and related compliance strategies
• Experience implementing compliance programs for high tech manufacturing and industrial operations, and new product introductions
• Experience successfully managing and leading teams across diverse geographic areas and regulatory regimes
• Fluent English-capable of leading/participating in conference calls in English

Desired Characteristics:
• Advanced university degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology or related science
• Experience working in a matrixed organization, ability to manage diverse team located remotely
• Experience representing companies in external associations and with governments on chemical and product regulatory issues
• Strong organization, training and coaching experience
• Proven ability to manage consultants and ability to prioritize complex tasks
• Advanced computer skills; knowledge of enterprise resource management programs highly desired
