Role Summary: He/she is responsible for air, ground and ocean transportations, and superintends the inbound and the outbound traffic, the domestic shuttles and the distribution center. He drives technical negotiations and support commercial negotiations with forwarders. By working with the Sourcing and the GE Aviation Traffic he/she implements transportation policies and strategies, demonstrates leadership in driving the forwarders to execute the business needs and the sites thru transportation compliance.
Makes sure the Avio Aero shops have defined transportation services for all the individuated needs
Monitor the forwarders performance
Monitor transportation costs and contribute to the Logistics cost cutting action
Provide analysis on the better transportation routing and mode
Manage the distribution center
Manage the shuttles system
Write transportation specs for bidding and tender purposes
Manage for Avio Aero Logistics the global GE tenders
Drive the Site Logistics by providing operating instructions on transportation
Drive the forwarders in implementing the Avio Aero needs
By working with the Sourcing and the GE Aviation Traffic team, identify, propose and implement new technical solutions providing the company with the better opportunities on the market
Identify and reduce transportation process variation by applying Six Sigma tools and tactics
Define a proper set of KPI for the area
Drive the sites thru the transportation compliance
Manage transportation insurance aspects in conjunction with GE Aviation
Define the transportation budget and analyze the causes for the differences between forecasted and realized
Expertise in transportation – air mode
Experience in Logistics
Knowledge of couriers
Negotiation experience with Suppliers and/or Customers
Fluent English and Italian.
IT literate with expertise in Excel, Power Point
Degree from an accredited university or college
EU work permit.
Expertise in transportation – ocean mode
Military Licensing understanding
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proven analytical and problem solving skills, with sound judgment and a diplomatic attitude.
