Role Summary: As Sr. Director of Architecture for GE wide SAP ERP platforms, you will lead a team of architects working on multiple highly complex SAP ERPs supporting, evaluating, recommending, architecting, and porting GE’s SAP ERPs to strategic infrastructure and cloud platforms.
You will be responsible for leading horizontal teams supporting mission critical SAP ERPs for GE. Additionally, you will manage a team of senior architects that will provide technical expertise in area of SAP infrastructure landscape and SAP BASIS along with its associated 3rd party bolt-on applications, and partner with cross functional P&L stakeholders, Shared Services and GE Digital IT teams.
Champion the adoption of new technologies and drive the implementation across GE’s horizontal SAP ERP landscape
Analyze current state, design and develop a cohesive contemporary technology roadmap and implementation plan for SAP ERP technologies
Maintain and apply current knowledge of information technology; keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and help determine if/how they can be used to add value to the business
Partner with ERP CoEs, application teams, shared services, GE Digital IT and SAP MaxAttention in design, development and implementation of ERP technology solutions
Participate in preparation of long-range systems plans and assure that they are in concert with business objectives and goals
Reduce operational cycle time and drive simplification through implementation of automation solutions
Work with application and security teams to promptly address security vulnerability issues protecting ERP applications, database, infrastructure and technology stack
Responsible for identifying appropriate resources needed, assigning individual responsibilities, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project deadlines
Manage architecture and operations activities to ensure ERP compute infrastructure is used efficiently and produces a long-term business benefit
Lead and coordinate the technical and business discussions relative to future architectural direction across SAP ERP platform and its associated 3rd party products
Lead, mentor and energize high performance SAP BASIS and DBA teams across geographies to manage large, complex mission critical ERP environments for GE
Leverage technical depth and broader business understanding to coach and develop the technical leaders that report to you
Participate in budget management responsibilities and strategic inputs into S2 and other business activities
Develop peer, cross-functional and cross-business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness
Responsible for management activities including recruiting, development, performance management, organization and teaming
Select, train, develop, manage and lead the people
Develop, motivate and direct staff to create a team environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a technical area (Architecture, Software, or Information Technology) or (a high school diploma / GED with at least 8 years of experience in Information Technology or Software)
Minimum 8 years of experience running IT infrastructure, BASIS & DB administration support for SAP ERP platforms in a large, global organization
Minimum 5 years understanding in architecting and managing solutions around SAP product ecosystems and technology stack components such as NetWeaver, Business Intelligence, Enterprise Portal, Process Integration (PI/PO), ABAP, HANA & Fiori
Minimum 2 years of experience in SAP ERP migrations to Suite on Hana, or BW on Hana, or S4/HANA or cloud integration
Minimum 4 years of experience leading and developing a world-class Basis organization to support a global, 24x7 SAP environment

Demonstrated ability to understand and influence cross functional business teams in SAP technology integration areas, processes, functions
Strong knowledge of financial and budgeting acumen and accountability
Previous service or system ownership of mission critical SAP ERP landscapes, solid understanding of SAP Basis leading practices, methodologies, processes and control framework including ITIL/ITSM tools
Proven track record of strong people and project management managing technical teams (IT Infrastructure, SAP Basis, DBA, Security & Authorizations) with direct reports
Ability to provide L4 support to ERP and Application teams to diagnose and repair performance and availabilikty issues. Hands-on SAP Basis troubleshooting experience in multiple SAP components such as – ECC, BW, XI/PI, SolMan, CHARM, CUA, GRC, NWDI, DMS, ME/MII, HANA, BOBJ, ARIBA etc.
SAP technology certifications (SAP certified professional – SAP architect, BASIS, HANA, SolMan etc.) a plus
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to transition smoothly between technical and non-technical audience
Experience establishing policies, product, operating standards and runbooks
Able to work in ambiguous situations/environments; demonstrated ability to break down problems into constituent parts and develop and drive plans for resolution
Proven ability to identify creative and practical solutions to design, architect and improve performance and availability of ERP applications and infrastructure
Demonstrated coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities, etc. to direct/indirect reports within broader team
Demonstrated strong understanding of finance, budgeting and vendor management
Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities
Must be comfortable with change and actively driving improvements
