Role Summary:
The Staff Software Architect will develop software & platforms that connect our customers' assets & systems to the Industrial Internet. You will also help customers optimize their operations by enabling them to monitor and analyze their systems at the Edge and in the cloud.



Essential Responsibilities:
Our collaborative team develops software for our Predix Edge based Field Agents that allow our customers to run apps on the Edge, stream data the cloud, perform complex analytics, etc. This must be done securely with the highest quality and uptime that our users demand.

As the Staff Software Architect, you will:

  • Work in small, self-motivated teams collaborating with your Product Owner to translate customer needs into Internet-enabled products and infrastructure
  • Be involved in all phases of software development from product definition to production release
  • Use Agile software development practices to build and test our products using Continuous Integration
  • Use excellent communication skills to interface with customers and senior leadership with confidence and clarity
  • Break down problems, estimate work, and help build development plans
  • Be an ambassador for how our technology solves customer problems from a technology and business perspective


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Minimum of Associate's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Java, Bash and/or Python, C/C++
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with Operating Systems, preferably Linux

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job.



Desired Characteristics:
  • Passion for delivering high-quality software
  • Master's Degree Computer Science or Computer Engineering
  • Previous system administration experience with Linux and Windows
  • Experience with web markup, including JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS
  • Experience with a Unit Test framework such as JUnit or CppUnit
  • Experience with C#/.NET development
  • Knowledge of application Security best practices
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery Software tools and processes (Propel, Jenkins, Bamboo, Cruise Control, Electric Commander, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Test Driven Development
  • Knowledge of Docker
  • Knowledge of Industrial network protocols (Ethernet, OPC UA, Modbus, etc.)
  • Experience with virtualization, e.g. VMWare, ESXi, Hyper-V, etc.
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Software Design Patterns
  • Knowledge of web services (REST, SOAP, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on innovative ideas for products and processes
  • Demonstrated experience working on teams that use the Agile Scrum development methods
