Role Summary: Responsible for the receiving functions to ensure conformance to specifications and continuous production consistent with established standards.
Essential Responsibilities: • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records • Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers • Prepares all unpainted equipment received from warehouse by greasing or oiling prior to shipping Inserts items or equipment into containers and nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. • Routes items to departments • Maintains inventory of receiving materials and supplies • Operates forklift or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform or area to storage or work area, and to load equipment • Prepares and maintains shipping/receiving records and logs • Keeps shipping/receiving area clean and free of safety and health hazards
Qualifications/Requirements: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Desired Characteristics: • Forklift experience preferred, but not required. • Regular lifting and /or moves up to 40 pounds. • Frequently required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
