Role Summary: The EHS Leader will lead EHS across North America to world-class Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) performance. The successful candidate will have exceptional technical and communication skills and the ability to influence leaders across all functions.
The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer with dotted line responsibility to Vice President, Environment Health and Safety. The scope includes EHS responsibilities for all Lighting functions and locations in North America and high-level security oversight for the NELA campus. Success will be assured through building positive, effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities Include :
Develop the Global EHS strategy and coordinate the implementation and communication with European counterparts
Develop and implement EHS strategy to lead the North America operations to world-class EHS performance
Work cross functionally to understand the needs of the business and implement programs that support business needs and are responsive to the external environment
Drive metrics development and facilitate progress toward goals; oversee heat map process and participate in audit planning and prioritization within region; establish priorities and coordinate efforts with the Regional EHS shared services teams to meet objectives
Actively participate in Regional reviews; team with the Regions and Enterprise Standards to share Best Practices and improve business EHS performance
Coach and develop site EHS Representatives to identify growth opportunities and meet their career potential; ensure retention of key talent
Manage North Americas EHS and NELA campus Security budgets; set priorities and review EHS programs
Leads and facilitates the Session E program
Provide leadership on regulatory agency interactions related to operations and legacy sites, as needed
Assure correct reporting of all incidents according to regulatory, Lighting and GE requirements and procedures
Review and evaluate root cause incident analysis as needed; ensure appropriate follow up and communication are complete
Lead Americas site teams for Session E and similar reviews; work with operations leadership to develop and implement a mini-Session E or similar interim review plans
Provide high level leadership to the NELA campus Security function
Support information and customer requests within Americas region
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited university or college
Minimum of 5 years of EHS experience in a professional EHS role
Demonstrated knowledge of global compliance regulations and industry practices
Demonstrated ability to lead in a team environment
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent organization and time management skills
Ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs
Strong communication and negotiating skills
