Role Summary: The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the development of electro-pneumatic, industrial process control equipment. Activities will include providing technical leadership and expertise to new product development, design, specification, validation, and certification. Part of a fast paced, multi-discipline team tasked to develop products that are cost effective, manufacturable, and meet customer requirements.
Essential Responsibilities: As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will work to design and develop microprocessor based electro pneumatic device solutions and technologies for process automation industries. You will work in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline, fast-paced and global environment. You will begin with participating in the critical New Product Introduction (NPI) project at the implementation, testing and system integration phase leading up to the product launch milestones. You will collaborate with the electronic, firmware and Validation & Verification teams in the labs on daily basis.
In the role of Lead Mechanical Engineer you will:
Lead all aspects of product development and existing product support including architecture, documentation, design, prototype, test, certification, and supplier interaction
Provide technical leadership in multi-national, cross-disciplinary teams to develop new products and sustain existing products
Lead implementation of best practices related to the application of engineering principles to design mechanical components and assemblies
Validate technologies and product designs with implementation of comprehensive validation plans
Lead product certification process and certification maintenance
Drive team engagement with vendors to ensure accurate and timely pre-production procurement
Provide cost analysis for designs
Generation of project requirements based on market needs
Generation of complete product documentation packages including procedures, specifications, drawings, Computer Aided Designs, and analysis
Generation of technical presentations and reports
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum 7 years of experience in product design or development OR Completion of a GE Leadership Program with at least one year of related experience
Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology from an accredited college or university
Experience designing machined metal, aluminum die casting, sheet metal, and molded plastic components
Understanding and applied use of Computer Aided Design tools such as SolidWorks or similar
Demonstrated experience developing products for industrial automation control equipment strongly preferred
