Role Summary:
Entry level janitorial position doing light factory cleaning and other duties that could lead to an assembly position in our aerospace business.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Comply with and supports all GE policies and the “Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment” guide
  • Remove trash and waste from facility
  • Must conform to all EHS guidelines, including, but not limited to, wearing required PPE
  • Sweep, wax and clean plant as assigned
  • Maintain cleaning supplies in janitor storage
  • Move material as needed
  • Maintain recycle bins
  • Drive fork lift to load cardboard bales
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma / GED

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
  • Ability and willingness to conform to all EHS guidelines, including, but not limited to, wearing required PPE
  • Ability and willingness to work in an area where there is moderate noise intensity (85 to 89.9 dBa)
  • Ability and willingness to work in an area where, due to normal machining operations there may be dust, fumes, or smoke (not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels (PEL))

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability and willingness to read and understand safety rules in the use and maintenance of shop equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to read related technical material and apply principles to daily operations
  • Ability and willingness to read and complete forms
  • Ability and willingness to apply principles to solve practical problems, including dealing with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Commitment to excellent safety habits
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality history
  • Make decisions based on experience and available data
  • History of meeting or exceeding job requirements
  • History of accepting and giving constructive criticism
  • Positive attitude and ambition to excel / advance in skills and knowledge
  • Ability and willingness to lift up to 25 pounds repetitively; with assistance, occasionally lift over 50 pounds
  • Willingness to undergo on-the-job training and formalized training, including the following:
    • Hazardous material training (includes preventing, controlling, evacuation)
    • General emergency response under review of Emergency Response Manual
    • Confined Space Entry
    • Operations of portable fire extinguishers and preventive maintenance
    • Review of emergency evacuation procedure

  • Able to demonstrate knowledge in or be willing to take training in the following Basic Safety courses:
    • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
    • Chemical Hazard
    • Mechanical Hazard
    • Evacuation & Emergency Training
    • Forklift / Scissor Lift training and certification
    • Medical Surveillance
    • Hearing Conservation
