Role Summary: The Environmental Technical Regulations & Standards (TRS) Leader - (m/f) will be responsible for ensuring compliance to all environmental legislation that impacts our products in all global regions.
Essential Responsibilities: This role will provide subject matter expertise to ensure compliance with product-related environmental regulation for the GEIT business. This mission will be accomplished through acting across the matrix organization structure, and in coordination with various functions within GEIT, as well as outside regulatory agencies.
In the role of Environmental Technical Regulations & Standards (TR&S) Leader - (m/f) responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
NPI - Drive compliance to all global environmental legislation. Work with/advise engineering teams, ensuring that new product designs meet environmental legislation requirements.
Sustaining – Work with engineering teams to drive product compliance initiatives with sustaining/legacy products as required. In this capacity, may lead GEIT environmental product compliance projects. EU and China RoHS compliance will be high priority as first projects in this role.
Advocacy - Liaise with external regulatory bodies and Industry representatives to guide input into environmental strategies and policy.
Data Collection - Work closely with quality, technology, and sourcing teams to ensure RoHS, WEEE, Battery, and REACH environmental data is collected, analyzed, reported, and actioned.
Documentation – Review environmental TRS product documentation to ensure it is compliant to environmental legislation requirements, and that documentation to prove due diligence is properly collected and stored. Create/maintain WEEE passports, RoHS DoC’s, and respond to other customer and regulator requests for information.
Product Marking – Working with engineering team, ensure that products are marked in accordance with environmental legislation.
Testing – Work with engineering and third party test labs as needed to specify protocols and methods to prove compliance to environmental standards and directives. Perform or advise on performance of XRF testing.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical degree from an accredited university or college
Considerable experience in Global Technical Regulations experience
Travel up to 5% of the time, as required
Meticulous attention to detail
Working knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance including RoHS, REACH, WEEE, Battery registrations, and take back programs
Strong interpersonal and written & verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and leadership skills

Team player with a global perspective
Self-motivated, must be able to multi-task in a dynamic environment and handle pressure from project schedule and technical challenge
Certified Six Sigma BB or GB (Internal BHGE Only)
Working knowledge of SAP and GTS module for TR&S
Significant environmental compliance and regulatory experience (WEEE, REACH & RoHS)
Demonstrated ability to use software applications (MS Office Suite) – Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of SAP
Familiarity with Conflict Minerals legislation
Experience with GE Inspection Technologies products, or experience in the Oil and Gas industry
Working knowledge of M&C or O&G processes (e.g. NPI / ITO / OTR / Commissioning / Sourcing)
