Essential Responsibilities: There are two main aspects of fulfilling the Mechanical Repair and Electrical Repair position. They consist of mechanical repairs and electrical repairs and are described in detail below.
Mechanical Repair (MR): Perform general and preventative maintenance for all production equipment and plant facilities. Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic problems. Interpret detailed mechanical drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic prints. Skills should include, but are not limited to, electric and gas welding and cutting, plumbing, rigging and sheet metal fabrication. Use of precision measuring equipment. As required, set up and operate various machine tools such as drill presses, bench grinders, Bridgeport manual mills to fabricate/repair machine parts not requiring full toolroom support. Coordinate required toolroom work.
Electrical Repair (ER): Troubleshoot and perform electrical repairs on production equipment and plant facilities equipment excluding electrical distribution equipment, power factor correction capacitors and UPS systems. Except for troubleshooting, work will be on de-energized equipment only. Use of electrical diagnostic test equipment. Interpret electrical prints, schematics and wiring diagrams. Working knowledge of PLC’s and CNC’s. Work in accordance with plant engineering standards. Assist others as required to perform other tasks as needed. NOTE: Work in this skill block will not include any modifications to existing equipment or any new installations unless under the direction of a licensed electrician.
