Lead an operational team of Customs professionals to enable shipments into the region by interfacing with Customs agents, BPOs, 3rd parties, logistics providers, GE business representatives, and Global Operations colleagues
Establish team priorities, behaviors and deliverables.
Monitor operational performance with quantitative and qualitative metrics.
Drive strong performance management in the team through clear expectations, performance appraisals, and feedback.
Proactively develop the capability of the team through strong development plans and coaching.
Drive employee engagement and inspire the team to contribute their best.
Develop strong working relationships with business and function partners
Responsible for driving compliance with all import and export operations activities in line with GE and external regulations and policies
Defect resolution management; including corrective action implementation
Implement strategic initiatives to improve efficiency, compliance and cost control
Provide advice, counsel and training to key stakeholders regarding Customs compliance, regulations and operational processes
Sponsor the Customs Enterprise Standards with the businesses and ensure business compliance with Government Customs laws and regulations
Identify Customs risk areas and develop actionable plans and procedures to mitigate those risks
Contribute to European Customs projects as required
Experience of defining and communicating a vision to support business strategy, broken down into clear operational deliverables
Proven track record of motivating & managing team of professionals to deliver to consistently high standards
Demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of Customs Regulations and associated processes
Demonstrated professional qualities to perform effectively in a corporate environment; knowledgeable about how organizations function and how to get things done through formal and/or informal channels
Highly effective interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on building good working relations
Experience of process improvement and simplification
Ability to anticipate and resolve challenges efficiently
Demonstrated high-level professional ability in both oral and written communication required. Fluency in English
Comfortable delivering against quantitative and qualitative performance metrics
Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks of varying complexity through the application of technical, administrative, and analytical skills. Strong organizational skills required
Compliance & controllership mindset
Numerate with a good eye for detail
Proficient in Microsoft Applications
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
