Role Summary: The Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is responsible for the safe conduct of laboratory facilities, reactor operations, facilities activities, and liability reduction at the Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC), and the San Jose training center. This role is also the point of contact for the Morris IL facility and GNF-J in Japan.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition to Environmental, and Industrial safety, the EHS Manager is also responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements established by State and Federal agencies including all aspects of the following:
Nuclear Criticality Safety
Nuclear Materials Safeguards
Industrial Safety & Hygiene
Nuclear Safety Compliance & Review
Facility Licensing and Permitting
The EHS Manager will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within their functional area(s) of expertise, be involved in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. You will report directly to the GM EHS and operationally to the VNC Operations Manager.
Bachelor's Degree in science or engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the nuclear industry including a minimum of 3 years of experience leading a team or initiative or program
Strong background in quality or regulatory compliance, preferably in the nuclear industry
Experience interacting with US NRC and other regulatory organizations
Experience in radiological measurements, controls, and/or nuclear criticality safety controls
Experience in industrial and environmental safety fields
Creative and open-minded approach to work planning and organization
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion
Ability to rapidly identify problems and act with urgency to resolve promptly
Six Sigma certification or equivalent quality certification
