Role Summary:
The successful candidate for this position will lead EHS Operations at GE Lighting Locations, Ivanhoe Road Plant and Tungsten Products Plant. Both are unionized
manufacturing facilities which operate three shifts. Approximately 50% of your time will be spent at each location. An ideal candidate will be able to assume
responsibility for locations staffed mostly by seasoned shop floor employees and will be able to lead teams to a new level of safety awareness through visible daily leadership.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, responsibilities include :


  • General health and safety program development and site compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, state, local and GE requirements
  • Partner with Plant Leadership, Regional and Corporate EHS to maximize EHS results
  • Interact with applicable government agencies to ensure compliance standards are met
  • Work closely with Operations Team to ensure effective implementation of all GE EHS management systems and gauge results using prescribed scorecard
    systems
  • Build and maintain one on one relationships with hourly and management employees in order to facilitate buy-in of EHS initiatives
  • Perform site audits and lead efforts with management team to implement corrective actions
  • Integrate EHS standards applicable to new and existing equipment and processes
  • Conduct incident / accident investigations and develop corrective / preventive actions
  • Coordinate EHS efforts among external contractors as necessary
  • Compile periodic reports for EHS Headquarters
  • Work with EHS Headquarters on various projects and initiatives
  • Plan and conduct EHS training
  • Participate with plant nurse and HR in workers compensation administration
  • Adherence to EHS standards including wastewater, air, and hazardous waste
  • Conduct wastewater sampling
  • Fulfill all EHS recordkeeping requirements

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Engineering Degree or other Environmental or Safety degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 2 years of experience in an EHS position within a manufacturing environment

    OR

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an EHS position within a manufacturing environment

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complete projects within specific time constraints
  • Experience with Tier II, Title V, TRI, DMR reporting, EPA sampling testing methods, NoiseLevel Surveys
  • Above average communication and presentation skills are necessary in order to professionally interact with all levels of the organization and applicable
    compliance agencies
  • Experience with Air (Title V) and water (NPDES and POTW discharge) Permitting and compliance requirements
  • Experience managing industrial and hazardous waste generation and disposal
  • Knowledge of homeland security requirements
  • Experience with workers compensation administration
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and complete projects within specific time constraints
  • Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma
  • Experience with GE Gensuite EHS tool or other similar computerized reporting tool
