Role Summary: The Senior Global Commodity Leader – Castings and Forgings will strategically develop and manage a global supply chain of goods and services to geographically diverse locations, while driving commercial advantage through achievement of quality, cost, usage and delivery goals. Lead Castings/Forgings Component team, and manage direct material volume of aprox $350MM for GE Renewable Energy inclusive of Onshore Wind and Offshore Wind.
Essential Responsibilities: Control costs while meeting delivery and quality requirements from the supply base.
As the Senior Global Commodity Leader – Castings and Forgings, you will: • Manage supplier contracts, supply agreements, and negotiations with preferred suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance, and future business needs are aligned • Develop and execute long term global commodity strategies for a diverse group of suppliers, with varying levels of complexity • Develop competitive negotiations to drive lowest landed with the global supply base • Lead the evaluation and selection of new suppliers, development of existing suppliers, and overall supplier management • Define and drive use of preferred suppliers plus develop alternate sources to reduce single and sole sources • Interact with site teams to understand business needs and develop supply chain strategies that optimize total requirements • Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, product line, quality, global supply chain, and regional teams) to achieve plan and ensure adequate cycle time to procure materials • Partner with corporate teams dedicated to initiatives such as low cost countries, GE and COE (Center of Excellence) sourcing • Develop technical and market expertise in commodity areas
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelor`s Degree in Business, Logistics, Manufacturing, or Engineering from an accredited university or college • Minimum 5 years of sourcing or global supply chain experience • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally 20% of the time
Desired Characteristics: • Experience and industry knowledge within discrete part sourcing or composites • Demonstrated negotiation skills, contracting expertise, and business law knowledge • Working knowledge of sourcing buy to pay processes • High motivation, leadership, and influencing skills • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills • Proactive self-starter and change agent • Cross functional, matrixed, and international team experience • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Effectively communicate across all organizational levels, departments, and functions • Have proven project management and process improvement skills • Aptitude with analytical tools (ex. Excel, Access); specific skills should include: data-mining, pivot tables, data manipulation • Ability to perform scenario analysis and strategy development • Demonstrated technical aptitude and business acumen • Business process / Sourcing process / program ownership experience • Strong financial planning, analytical and critical-thinking skills, MBA • Customer-focused and results-oriented mindset
