Role Summary: GE Digital is seeking a Senior Staff UX Interaction Designer to join the Enterprise UX team. In this role, you will collaborate with colleagues to create useful and desirable software product and service experiences…. As a Senior Staff UX Interaction Designer you will work as a lead designer on multiple user experience engagements, and provide leadership, design guidance, and mentorship to team members.
In this role, you will:
Lead multiple small to large projects projects in a cross-functional environment.
Lead and contribute to effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering
Frame, scope and lead execution of design projects
Participate in and lead team discussions relative to current user experience projects
Coaches and consults team members on Agile / Lean UX methodologies
Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Graphic Design/Media, Industrial Design, Information Systems, Information Management, Human-Computer Interaction; or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Minimum 8 years professional experience in product or service design OR Master’s degree with 6 years professional experience

Must be willing to travel up to 20%
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Van Buren Township, Michigan
Leads participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototype co-creation, card sorting) to understand vision, business model and assumptions and tacit knowledge about user needs and behaviors.
Synthesizes output of stakeholder research & creates visualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user and customer needs and behaviors, product definition.
Master in standard design & wireframing tools (Sketch, OmniGraffle, Adobe CC), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (Axure, InVision).
Designs new components to contribute to design systems, documents intended usage.
Develops knowledge of business products, key processes, suppliers, customers and market/competitors.
Understands and stays up to date on the industry’s technology landscape; brings new ideas to the team. Maps industry technology trends to internal vision.
Strong understanding of Design Thinking and the principles of Atomic Design; the ability to articulate and effectively communicate the value of Design Thinking to others and lead workshops
Works to create an understanding of how individual people and things fit within larger structures (like systems or organizations), as well as the relationships between parts of a system and the system as a whole.
Researches and evaluates emerging design, technology, industry, regulatory and market trends.
Committed mentor to more junior designers
Acts and decides appropriately when all available information may not be possible to obtain.
Demonstrates the ability to extract and communicate how customer groups are thinking and feeling.
Asks questions appropriate to translating an abstract problem into a roadmap for identifying solutions.
Captures specific information from the audience and validates it back to them for acceptance.
