Role Summary:
The Product Manager – Unit Controls demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. This role will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, manage complex issues cross-functionally, and contribute to the overall business strategy.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Product Manager- Unit Controls you will:

  • Manage the Upgrade and Systems Product Line business as the Unit Controls Product Line Manager focusing on both long term and short term strategies for orders and contribution margin growth
  • Work with the Regional Sales Teams to ensure their Operating Plans have the correct focus on Unit Control Upgrades along with the right pricing strategies for each regional market
  • Solicit continuous feedback from the Regional Sales Teams in the form of Win / Loss analyses, to ensure that product offerings are in accordance with Market demands and trends
  • Develop “packaged” Unit Controls upgrade offerings designed to address platform controller card obsolescence issues using Program Management approach, complete with automated quoting tools (BigMachines) and supporting MarComm materials
  • Deploy controller card “packaged” offerings in a proactive campaign leveraging Compass / SFDC / Tableau tools and teaming regional sales teams to effect convertible orders in current year
  • Work to ensure that productized offerings have the necessary inclusion and visibility across the global commercial teams
  • Provide primary interface with Customer and Field sales on all ITO transactions. This includes: Proposals, Technical studies, Cost estimates and formal bids during opportunity development through the full proposal “R” process
  • Become principal owner and driver of transaction details related to technical, financial, and commercial inputs to support strategy development and risk management processes
  • Contribute to individual deal strategies to drive both price and hit rate
  • Manage customer specification review, proposal development, contract development and negotiations, including equipment sales and service agreements
  • Compilation of Proposal, supporting documentation, risk reviews, reviews, cycle commitments and obtain necessary approvals through CRBs per established Delegation levels before submitting proposals to customer
  • Participate in Lean & Quality initiatives within ITO to drive process rigor, NPS and other improvements to overall ITO process
  • Support achievement of ITO Team metrics related to orders, margins
  • Proposal cycle and Quality
  • Review Customer Purchase Orders to Ensure Compliance with Approved Price Levels, Terms and Cycle commitments etc. to coordinate R3 Hand off to Project Execution teams
  • Provide PO Acceptance / Acknowledgment to customer with right language and terms

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marketing or Business from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Generation, Oil & Gas (O&G) / Energy sector
  • Minimum 2 years of direct sales, commercial, or services experience, with working knowledge of contract terms & conditions

    Desired Characteristics:
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 2 years of technical or project management experience or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a matrix environment
  • SAP experience / Strong IT acumen
  • Green Belt certified (GE employees only)
  • Demonstrated track record in driving profitable business growth
  • Experience working with global teams and previous global responsibilities
  • Field Engineering Program (FEP) graduate / JOLP / ECLP / Field Service Experience / Product Management and/or Technology experience
  • Proficient in PC usage / application
