Role Summary:
This role will be responsible for objectives in the raw material production of silicon carbide (SiC) fiber for the CMC operations. In addition, you will: Perform the daily operations of plant to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line, to reach defined targets in quality, cost, delivery and safety.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, you will :


  • Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned Cells / Teams to meet quality, schedule and cost goals
  • Provide on-going support in scheduling resources, technical leadership and facilitating the flow of production to meet customer requirements
  • Support process improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve inventory turns and reduce manufacturing losses
  • Direct the activities of hourly team within the cell(s) and participate in cell / team activities to meet identified goals
  • Perform administrative duties to support the business, including:
    • timecards
    • labor vouchers
    • self- audits
    • absence reviews
    • and missing time corrections, etc.

  • Coordinate all first line activities (i.e. Methods, Production Control) to assure the meeting of production schedules and customer satisfaction, cost goals, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety
  • Provide coaching and counseling to employees regarding individual performance and development needs
  • Practice sound human relations and communications skills that will motivate the assigned work force
  • Review production orders and implement production schedules

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramics, chemical engineering, materials science or engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry related experience

  • Ability to travel domestic and globally
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment

    Desired Characteristics:

  • Manufacturing experience in a PSM environment
  • Prior batch and polymer processing experience
  • Spinning experience, fiber handling, fiber coating
  • Ability to self-manage and organize priorities
  • Ability to train and motivate employees
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
