Role Summary: Reporting to the CMO and working collaboratively across GE Ventures, the Content Marketing Manager is the chief storyteller, responsible for amplifying the voice of our collective of innovators, inspirers, investors and leaders. This role will design, curate and deliver unique and engaging content experiences, for both internal and external audiences within the GEV ecosystem.
Essential Responsibilities: This expert visual and written communicator will be the strategist, architect, designer, manager and flawless orchestrator of provocative thought leadership content. This role will design and execute the GEV content strategy and all assets, from ideation through delivery. S/he will create impactful stories, POVs, case studies, trend/outlook presentations and other visual and video assets to be used to increase GEV brand awareness, engagement and nurturing across the platform. Content development will span web, video, print, and experiential channels, as well as any new audience-relevant mediums. This expert will design and produce visual and textual GEV content that inspires, educates, and/or engages end users. Infuse the perspectives and voices of GEV experts while aligning materials to GE/GEV brand guidelines, audience needs and overall campaign strategy. This expert will collaborate with Marketing, Commercial Development, and Practice Area team members to create high-quality, engaging and high-impact GEV content.
Craft content strategies and experiences that engage and tell the story of GEV’s people, companies, provocative POVs, services, and brand throughout the innovation ecosystem
Collaborate with the Marketing Communications leadership, Practice Area Leads, and Commercial Directors to determine annual content strategy and plan based on core marketing and commercial objectives, trends/themes and key audience needs
Identify and provide innovative and creative ideas; take risks and challenge the status quo to differentiate GEV through stories, content and approaches that foster provocative dialogue and bring people together
Plan, align and track content creation and curation efforts to the annual plan; maintain a dashboard reach and engagement achievements and track in-flight initiatives for executive reporting
Work hand-in-hand with Corporate Marketing to integrate content strategy, editorial calendars and content channels and distribution opportunities
Serve as the point person for executive content creation (e.g., topics, presentations, talk tracks); work cross-functionally to enhance success of brand and campaign execution
Be accountable for ‘quarterbacking’ specific pieces of content across the content lifecycle
Oversee the development/packaging of both created and curated content that may include white papers, speeches, presentations, webinars, trainings, POVs, blogs, articles, graphics, case studies and videos
Create, nurture and maintain a list or advisory board of GEV ecosystem experts by theme / trend to support content ideation and creation
Proactively identify and execute opportunities to amplify and tailor existing content through/to new channels, audiences, partners and mediums
Collaborate with the Experiential Marketing Manager and Marketing Director to generate and integrate content opportunities and engagement campaigns prior to, during, and following GEV events and activities
Provide input on content messaging, voice / tone, and intended impact
Work with the Intelligence & Analytics Lead to create, maintain, and leverage a central GEV content repository; conduct content audit on semi-annual basis; track metrics and key outcomes
Engage external vendors (e.g., design studios, agencies, videographers) as needed to fulfil content creation demands
Manage content creation to budget defined by GEV Marketing leadership
Develop tight relationships and linkages with Corporate Marketing stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader branding and messaging
Provide nimble and just in time support during the iterative content creation process
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Communications, Digital Media, Journalism or Writing
7+ years of experience in content marketing, writing/communications, brand strategy, creative digital experience, digital marketing, digital/social strategy, and content production
Agency experience preferred
Expert in writing and communication, distilling dense topics and discussions, bringing technical concepts to life, infusing personality and authenticity into content, extracting stories from KOLs and thought-leaders and framing for different audiences, understanding the nuances of how to communicate with audiences across channels and leveraging new novel mediums to distribute, aggregate and create content
Proven effective at strategic relationship building and high level management of internal and external stakeholders; experience managing large, complex, strategic, and collaborative relationships
Ability to lead and participate in strategic discussions and dive deep into technical topics and industries
Strong marketing sense, with proven ability to deliver high-quality, engaging and impactful content marketing strategy and assets that drive business outcomes
Broad understanding of SEO and digital media, social channels and content, and familiarity with graphics, illustration, video, blog and website production, vendors and tools
Form, lead, manage and optimize agency, publisher, freelance/contractor and vendor partner relationships for content design, development and production; ensure on-budget and on-time delivery.
Ability to energize, develop, and build rapport at all levels within an organization
Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
Strong interpersonal communication, influencing and presentation skills
Proactive, self-directed, creative, strategic thinking and able to implement plan via a well thought out process
The candidate must demonstrate proven success in an entrepreneurial environment
Willing to travel approximately 25% of the time
Masters in Communications preferred
Prior experience in content marketing and delivery; specific time in venture capital or private equity / licensing a plus
B2B marketing experience developing and executing lead generation marketing plans and programs.
Strong leadership experience in highly matrixed organizations, proven ability to lead, manage & influence in cross-functional and cross-business teams
Outstanding communication and organizational skills; Strong presenter
Able to work independently. Formulate and execute a self-driven engagement plan
Able to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously with appropriate sense of urgency
Able to learn new industries, customers and technologies and translate value to customers
Able to analyze, interpret, draw conclusions, and implement solutions on a variety of complex issues
Individual must be self-focusing and able to drive the critical few priorities in an environment where many demands and requests present themselves
