Role Summary: As the Lean & CI Engineer, your primary objective is to support the Lean and CI Managers by being a key contributor and facilitator of LEAN and CI initiatives throughout the plant. This position facilitates teams in the collection and analysis of operational data, identification, prioritization, and implementation of LMPS tools and CI events and projects.
Essential Responsibilities: This position plays a key role in the journey to achieve Operational Excellence status through waste analysis within the factory value stream.
As the Lean & CI Engineer, you will:
Present, facilitate, and lead assigned process improvement events using methods of team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, problem solving, project management, and presentation skills
Provide CI projects follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits. Use appropriate measurement, analysis, and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements
Develop reports of overall Continuous Improvement activities, including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs
Analyze operational data, trend analysis, statistical studies, Pareto charts, process maps, etc., to identify improvement and waste elimination opportunities
Coordinate with related departments and functions to assure appropriate information flow and understanding of overall process improvement direction
Participate in and coordinate the development of event charters and scheduling of events
Assist in locating and reserving meeting locations and coordinating the delivery of services and materials necessary for a successful event
Assist in training of plant personnel in the Continuous Improvement process
Provide technical problem solving support to plant teams in support of the Lean and CI deployment
Be involved in implementing the standardized LMPS procedures and records in line with the Lean and CI Manager
Conduct Kaizen activities eliminating waste through implementation of LM Production System, tools and methods
Help in deploying of all relevant LMPS information in a useable format to all points of use within the plant
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 5 years technical manufacturing experience
Experience in technical documentation like Work Instructions, control plans, etc.
Knowledge of problem solving methods
Lean training or equivalent is a strong advantage
Functional knowledge of ERP systems and the production floor operational environment is required
Understanding of product quality attributes
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Good oral and written communication skills and ability to comprehend the English language
Six Sigma certification or equivalent quality certification
