Role Summary:

Essential Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for planning, discovery, design, development, and maintenance of a test automation framework. This role will evaluate existing manual test plans, automation scripts and automation frameworks to develop a highly reusable and centralized test automation framework strategy and plan. This includes the development/execution of automated test suites and integration of test suites into the test management system.

The Test
Automation Engineer (m/f) should act as a technical expert, evaluate existing
test automation and recommend best practices to derive better, more
predictable and robust automated test results in multiple environments. Based
on the initial assessment the solution shall be developed and integrated with
the automation framework and associated libraries. The Test Automation Engineer (m/f) should accelerate the shift from manual testing towards a
strategic automation solution and work with management, developers, and quality
assurance personnel to achieve this goal. This also requires a continuous
assessment of remaining gaps to build a dynamic highly automated solution for
the complete product line.

Responsibilities include:

  • Select and develop appropriate test automation tools, applying the
    latest techniques in test automation
  • Use risk-driven techniques to develop, maintain, and execute
    automated test suites for various software products; i.e., perform
    automated dynamic testing
  • Identify and automate manual test cases where necessary
  • Work within engineering team as a team player to capture and reuse
    automated unit test cases and other development test objects
  • Ensure proper version control and configuration management of all
    test objects developed and test environments used
  • Provide the manager with accurate estimates for assigned
    task duration, along with confidence levels and foreseeable dependencies
  • Provide technical guidance/mentoring to other team members to
    develop automation testing competency across the team

  • You studied computer science, medical documentation & informatics or you have an equivalent technical
  • You have significant experience in software test automation, in
    creating automatic frameworks, strategies and libraries
  • You have expertise in test automation tools & frameworks with
    one of: White, SpecFlow, Gherkin, Squish,
    HP UFT (Unified Function Testing formerly known as QTP), Selenium, JMeter,
    or similar
  • You have experience in performance testing
  • Sound development expertise in at least one programming language
  • Working with Windows operating systems and networks, as well as
    Office applications is very familiar to you

Desired Characteristics:
  • Ideally, you have already worked in the medical field
  • Knowledge of continuous integration tools like Jenkins etc is
  • Knowledge of test or defect management tools like HP ALM, Polarion,
    JIRA etc. is preferred
  • Knowledge of databases and ability to use SQL queries
