Role Summary:
AIROS is looking for a Senior Test Engineer & Operations Leader to lead operations, regulatory & certification approach and systems integration testing strategy. This is a key role on the AIROS senior leadership team which will work closely with the team to establish a vision and roadmap for the AIROS technologies.

Essential Responsibilities:
In the role of Senior Test Engineer & Operations Leader you will:


  • Lead business operations
    • Develop master field testing program plan for the business, including the testing of flight, equipage, delivery, process control and safety processes
    • Work with the AIROS technical and business team to design, resource and establish the test engineering organization needed to commercialize testing solutions for the unmanned industry
    • Participate in budget and product development meetings with various members of the business and the extended vendor base
    • Present and participate in the creation of presentations for senior company, customer and GE leadership
    • Lead interdisciplinary and intercompany working sessions on a regular basis, including the companywide engineering and operations meetings
  • Manage regulators and peer group
    • Lead development of regulatory approach in an environment where regulations are still evolving
    • Develop relationships across key leaders and influencers within GE, building trust and credibility to embody a culture of shared expertise and partnership through the development of AIROS
    • Act as an ambassador for business in internal and external interactions
    • Participate in field testing activities before regulatory bodies and customers
  • Lead testing efforts
    • Own systems testing & integration testing efforts
    • Ensure that all operating and delivery procedures are compliant with certain industry standards
    • Work with regulatory team on the development of testing procedures that are compliant with various sovereign regulatory schemas


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
  • 10+ years in aviation and aviation certification with a track record of progressive responsibility growth
  • 5+ years of experience in Program Management and/or operations
  • Familiar with FAA exemption and waiver processes under 107, 333, 2210
  • Experience leading large, matrixed teams, preferably in operations and management
  • Must combine the entrepreneurial focus demanded in small company environments with the ability to navigate and get things done in a large, matrixed organization
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30%, as required


Desired Characteristics:
  • Executive Experience in aviation industry is highly desirable
  • Strong process diligence and rigor in operating mechanics
  • Excellent organization skills; capacity to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface and influence at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to hit tight deadlines and work under pressure
  • Experience working and succeeding in a matrix environment
  • Demonstrated experience with vendor management and contract negotiation
  • Experience navigating large organizations and drawing upon broad, dispersed resources
  • Extremely hands-on; able to get things accomplished without directly managing a team; effective at working with consultants and other “borrowed” resources
  • Ability to earn the trust and confidence of multiple constituencies
  • Straightforward, open-minded, non-hierarchical
  • Able to build rapport at all levels within the company and GE and externally; able to work successfully in a large, highly-matrixed organization
  • Self-directed, creative, driven, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with appropriate sense of urgency
  • Adept at building consensus and driving ideas forward with conviction
  • Strong drive and high energy; action and results oriented
  • Proven track record with both working with senior executives & technical decision makers
  • Experience in working with local and remote teams across time zones
