Role Summary: The Materials Test Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for the configured business segment. In this role you will utilize your previous experience and the expertise gained while continuing to expand on your expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities: The Materials Test Engineer will be responsible for supporting the Materials Laboratory interfacing with design engineers for materials selection, failure analysis and continuous improvement actions related to materials in GEIS products & processes; the development and release of associated reporting documentation and the execution of continuous improvements projects to ensure an efficient Materials lab operation.
As the Materials Test Engineer, you will:
Provide global support as a key program team member on Off ULs and NPIs for optimized material selection and failure analysis
Plan & carry out materials analysis to support ongoing programs leveraging existing internal & external resources in a timely manner with the highest quality
Provide root cause analysis support and recommendations to customers, suppliers & technology groups
Support design teams & supply chain with materials information required for new and existing products
Collaborate with teams and universities on new materials design projects
Optimize online test request system for global test operations and train engineering associates on best practices
Support chief engineer’s office on compliance programs as needed (e.g. ROHS)
Effectively communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences
Support Lab Management as needed relative to budget, planning and optimization for Materials Lab operations
Bachelor's Degree in Materials or Metallurgical Engineering
Minimum 2 years of experience in materials testing or engineering
