Role Summary:
Leads, consults or oversees multiple architectural engagements. Works on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge within a domain: technical, solutions, business or information. Leads domain specific architecture. Works across multiple technical and functional domains.

Essential Responsibilities:
As a Principal Enterprise Architect, you will combine digital strategy definition and execution expertise, business knowledge, ability to visualize and communicate complex concepts and architectures with an aptitude for technical advising, troubleshooting and analysis.

You will work partner closely with CIO's and Product Owners to improve the product's vision and to make our businesses successful. You will work on a variety of projects that involve varying tasks and skills. You are a technical solutions expert, helping customers tackle and resolve world-class technology problems.


In this role you will:


  • Lead mission based teams to deliver Digital Thread programs
  • Manage CIO and functional partner relationships, maintain regular contact and manage expectations
  • Define/manage/drive all things (IT) architecture – tools, frameworks, standards, processes, implementation and governance
  • Work with business and IT stakeholders on strategic business and IT initiatives
  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions relative to future architect direction across multiple teams or complex product line
  • Create/define enterprise architecture, technology roadmaps and ensuring business IT alignment
  • Analyze, design and develop a roadmap and implementation plan based upon a current vs. future state in a cohesive architecture viewpoint
  • Review and/or analyze and develop architectural at domain level and across multiple teams
  • Contribute to the development of software and data delivery platforms that are service-oriented with reusable components across teams (multiple teams) that can be orchestrated together into different methods for different businesses
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities to for multiple teams or complex scenarios
  • Provide leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout the domain
  • Utilize your working knowledge of architectural considerations within enterprise environments
  • Implement critical system components that impact the overall enterprise architecture
  • Research and evaluate new products and technologies and keep abreast of emerging industry trends
  • Maintain expertise in and provide support for existing business applications and processes
  • Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
  • Formulate and implement plans to achieve technical requirements
  • Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

    Qualifications/Requirements:
    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent knowledge or experience. Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) is preferred
    • Extensive technical experience along with established leadership credentials across product lines. GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed


    Eligibility Requirements: (Country Specific)

    • Legal authorization to work in the UK is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills
    • Must be willing to travel 25%
    • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Detroit MI, Wauwatosa WI, Bangalore India, and United Kingdom

      Desired Characteristics:
      Technical Expertise:

      • Participates in enterprise strategy development, including environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value cases and business innovation portfolio development
      • Reviews and/or analyzes and develops architectural requirements at domain level, aligning architectural requirements with software development strategy
      • Leads and facilitates the domain’s architecture governance process based on EA’s governance structure
      • Leads teams in developing plans and assessing improvement options


      Business Acumen:

      • Create, analyze and manage projects that provide direct business benefit; demonstrate detailed knowledge of business operations and strategic direction, including merger & acquisition opportunities; understand industry trends and competitive landscape and the implications for your GE business; partner with business leaders to align projects with business goals and needs


      Leadership:

      • Recommends allocation of budget to meet architectural initiatives critical to business/mission success. Develops the business case for approval
      • Provides leadership, technology guidance and mentors others throughout their domain. Define the skills, competencies in the skills and talents for architecture team members
      • Facilitates dialogues that produce new perspectives and trigger recommendations for substantial innovative / enhancements, and analysis of consequences.
      • Influences through others. Uses experts or other third parties to influence. Builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas, uses chains of indirect influence

      • Participates with senior business leaders and subject matter authorities in defining strategies and courses of action that will impact the enterprise
      • Challenges conventional thinking and traditional ways of operating and invites stakeholders to identify issues and opportunities
      • Takes a holistic systems perspective. Envisions, compares and contrasts multiple potential long-range enterprise-wide futures. Empathizes with multiple points of view
      • Communicate effectively both within immediate team and GE leadership. Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results
      • Ability to travel for multi-day workshops and meetings; Travel estimated at no greater than 25%, but could be weeklong in certain circumstances
      • Strong presentation skills; able to effectively present and defend point of view to a variety of audience
