Role Summary: The Terre Haute Welder will, under general supervision, weld components in accordance with standard GTAW processes and applications with the desired outcome of joining a variety of material types and thicknesses together in accordance with site specifications.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition you will: Utilize dexterity and attention to detail, have proficient technical welding knowledge about the materials being joined, and comply with best practices in the field Exercise knowledge in all welding processes (Manual, Semi, and Automatic Tig Welding) Perform own set up for jobs Perform related tasks, such as basic fabrication to bench and flush of standard welds Work efficiently with co-workers, customers, and others by keeping commitments / sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner Listen to and objectively consider ideas / suggestions from others Keep others informed of work progress, timetables, and issues Address problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions Address others by name and show respect towards others in actions and words Notify Team Leader if you cannot perform these duties at any time Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements: High School Diploma / GED Minimum of 1 year of experience in aerospace manufacturing OR a related welding certificate (i.e. Ivy Tech training completion certificate)Eligibility Requirements: Ability and willingness to meet visual 20 / 30 visual requirements in either eye using the Jaeger II eye chart at 16 inches, with or without corrected vision Ability and willingness to successfully complete and execute on the site’s visual weld inspection Ability and willingness to stand 6 to 8 hours a day Ability and willingness to work with hands, arms, and be extremely accurate in movements Ability and willingness to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl daily Ability and willingness to lift / move up to 50 pounds Ability and willingness to become certified in AWSD17-1 as a certifying requirement Close vision and color vision ability
Desired Characteristics: Welding Certificate from an accredited college, technical school, or university with a minimum of 1 year of related experience Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract / concrete variables Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, sketches, and site work instructions Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and employees
