Role Summary: Finance Data Lake products are responsible for delivering millions of dollars in savings and therefore maintaining the applications with the greatest operational excellence is imperative. The Staff Data Engineer will work with the Operations team to support state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across GE to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.
Essential Responsibilities: The Staff Data Engineer, will be part of a product team on Finance Data Lake Ops team.
The Staff Data Engineer will be part of the Finance Data Lake Product Ops team and will collaborate closely with architects and ops developers within the Finance and Global Operations IT team along with other technical teams within GE to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and SLA achievement for the Data Lake products
Responsible for overseeing core FDL products like the Finance Data Store, Digital Cockpit, Auto-reconciliation tool with focus on front-end support, data quality, integration of Hadoop, data virtualization, in-memory computing, advance analytics and product support.
Accountable for operational excellence, with duties including production release reviews, incident management, prioritization, execution & closure for all operations work.
Look across multiple systems/technologies, understands the purpose of each system and data requirements by systems.
Identify downstream implications of data loads/migration (e.g., data quality, regulatory, etc.).
Integrate domain data knowledge into development of data requirements while supporting the use and adoption Finance Data Lake Products.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (STEM) with minimum 6 years of experience as data engineer or data architect
A minimum of 6 years of experience complex Business Intelligence systems, Enterprise Data Warehouse, advance analytics applications including ETL, BI/reporting with Tableau, Spotfire, and SDLC
A minimum of 6 year of experience working on Database(s), SQL is required
A minimum of 3 year of experience using Scripting (Pig, Python, Perl, etc.) is required
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

Diverse background in ITIL methodologies and big data technologies including Greenplum (GPDB), Hadoop, Spark and open tech stack.
