Role Summary: The Value Engineering is responsible to analyze the design of turbo shaft engine hardware and determine the manufacturability and cost of the components. He will work with the design engineer to improve the manufacturability of the part and would directly support the sourcing team with cost negotiations with suppliers. The Value Engineer would work with the team to find the balance between cost, quality, and manufacturing lead time to aid in the decision process.
Analyze drawings and models to determine what the cost would be to produce the component
Identify opportunities to reduce the cost to manufacture the part – work with design engineering to implement these ideas
Use GE Software programs to create a detailed cost estimate
Develop variances between estimated cost and actual cost
Strong experience in a design engineer or manufacturing engineer role
English language proficiency
Ability to analyze drawings/designs and determine the should cost of the component
