Role Summary:
Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design & manufacture of electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military and space. Unison's products span the globe and can be found on almost anything flying - from two place trainer airplanes to giant 747's and rockets traveling to space. We presently have an opening for a 1st shift Inspector in our Sensors Dept., working from 7 AM- 3:30 PM.

Essential Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in and support team initiatives
  • Receive guidance from Level 3 and / or 4 employees
  • Cross-train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience
  • Compliantly complete all written and / or electronic labor tracking documentation
  • Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of product deficiencies, new processes and / or ideas, etc.
  • Provide feedback to appropriate support functions
  • Requires specific knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines:
    • Receiving Inspection / Electrical Inspection / Mechanical Inspection

  • Use manual and/or automated measurement / testing equipment to assure the quality of products
  • Identify and document non-conforming parts, while utilizing Oracle to maintain inspection records
  • Inspect all raw materials and purchased parts to determine conformance to design requirement
  • Uses statistical process control and statistical quality control techniques as required
  • Report problems to Group Leader and / or Coach
  • Must possess abilities to perform job responsibilities according to internal process specifications and third party requirements (i.e. – audit, customer requirements, etc.).
  • Assist support functions in root cause corrective analysis;
  • Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products.
  • Utilize proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures
  • Other duties as required

    Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education Required: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience Required: Previous inspection experience preferred, preferably 1-3 years of experience.
  • Skill Level Required:
    • Requires use of basic hand tools and measuring devices (i.e. - dial calipers, rulers, tape measures, protractors, micrometers, gauges, etc.) as required within department
    • Proficient in use of basic computer applications, such as Oracle and Microsoft applications
    • Basic understanding of blueprint and process sheet interpretation
    • Understanding of basic mathematical principles, may have to do conversions to decimal system and use geometry. Also, possess basic knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances.
    • Possess basic knowledge of Quality System requirements (i.e. – AS9100 requirements)
    • Proficiency in understanding special process operations such as brazing / soldering / welding / coating, etc. as required within department; possess braze and weld inspection certifications as required
    • Must pass visual acuity exam


    Desired Characteristics:
  • General knowledge of electrical components and test methods
  • Prior knowledge of electrical test method to include ohm meter, gauss meter, surge test, hi pot, etc.
  • General knowledge of assembly techniques
  • Past experience in a self-directed teaming environment
  • Past experience in a manufacturing environment; Lean manufacturing knowledge
