Role Summary:
As the nation's largest GE Water manufacturing facility and part of a global organization, the Minnetonka location is a 450,000 square foot, 32 acre site with 24/7 operations and over 450 employees. The site manufactures water filtration and purification products as well as process systems solutions, with its goal to help solve complex challenges related to water availability and quality. We strive to increase productivity, reduce costs and help our customers meet environmental regulations.



Essential Responsibilities:
Reporting to the site's EHS Leader, the Site Environmental Leader will be responsible for developing and maintaining all Environmental programs across the site, including: Air, Water, Waste, Hazardous Materials Transportation, EPCRA, SPCC etc. In this role you will have the freedom and flexibility to develop innovative solutions to meet site operational goals.

As the Site Environmental Leader, you will:

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of existing and proposed regulations
  • Implement environmental compliance programs and maintain monitoring / record keeping systems
  • Develop and provide effective education and training related to EHS programs
  • Identify and implement site Eco and pollution prevention efforts, continually reducing site EHS impacts
  • Build trust needed to gain influence and integrate EHS policies and practices into the business
  • Provide expert advice, guidance and coaching to ensure site compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and permit requirements
  • Identify, assess and provide practical, effective controls for environmental risks and concerns
  • Gather and process data efficiently to complete environmental reporting within established deadlines
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering and technology to assess EHS impact of process and facility changes
  • Perform inspections in operations with respect to chemical and hazardous waste handling, labeling, disposal, and manifesting to ensure compliance
  • Prepare for and respond to chemical spills, leaks or other EHS concerns
  • Provide direction to and coach Environmental Technician and Project Interns
  • Develop and work with site teams focused on EHS program development, implementation and improvement


Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental, chemical, related science or engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of environmental experience


Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior EHS experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Prior experience in developing or amending environmental permit applications including air and water
  • Prior experience with Safety program implementation
  • Strong team player and ability to interact / communicate well with a variety of functional groups both internal & external to the site
  • Ability to self-prioritize workload commitments
  • Strong computer, data analysis and project management skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership attributes
