Role Summary: The Machining Operations Leader will lead the Machining Department at the Richmond Service Center. The position's primary focus will include but is not limited to driving efficiency, productivity, and utilization of resources by utilizing lean and quality tools.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Machining Operations Leader, you will:
Coordinate and provide technical, quality and production leadership to assigned Teams to meet safety, quality, schedule and cost goals
Provide on-going support in scheduling resources, technical leadership and facilitating the workflow to meet customer requirements
Assist Cell Leader with decision making in areas of process improvement and/or production to make appropriate resource decisions (manpower, machines, methods) to facilitate the workflow through the repairs process
Direct the activities of an hourly team to meet identified goals
Solve problems, set direction, eliminate waste in processes, own visual management
Perform administrative duties to support the business (not limited to time sheet correction / approval, labor vouchering)
Coordinate all first line activities (i.e. Methods, Production Control) to assure the meeting of safety procedures, production schedules and customer satisfaction, cost goals, and maintaining the highest standards of quality
Practice sound human relations and communications skills in order to motivate team
Review production orders and implement production schedules
Analyze and diagnose machine and tooling problems and takes corrective measures to minimize downtime and interruption of schedules
Coach and motivate team in safety, quality, individual performance / development, and productivity improvements
Employ Six Sigma rigors to all functions within the team
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing role)
Ability and willingness to work 12 hour varied shifts and weekends
Minimum of 3 years prior supervisory / leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Six Sigma training or equivalent quality certification
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
Strong team building skills
Knowledge of manufacturing operations and practices
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
Ability to counsel and motivate workforce
Strong influencing skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to bring assignments to a successful completion
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
