Role Summary: Drives increased efficiency across the teams, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse at a release level. Works independently and contributes to the immediate team and to other teams across business. Adds value to build and release engineering discussions.
Support and improve our tools for continuous build, automated testing and release management
Make technology choices at individual level and has ability to analyze impact
Profile build process and identifies bottlenecks
Demonstrate expertise in writing scripts to automate tasks. Implements Continuous Integration/Deployment build principles
Provide expertise in the quality engineering, test planning and testing methodology for a software project
Help businesses develop an overall strategy for deploying code. Contribute to planning and strategy with his/her ideas. Draw off experience in order to influence others
Be expert at applying principles of SDLC and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.
Be able to document procedures for building and deploying
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in product deployment and installation OR Master’s degree with 3 years of experience in product deployment and installation.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

Must be willing to travel (infrequent).
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Pittsburgh, PA.
Management of virtual infrastructure in the cloud using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Skytap.
Using tools such as Electric Commander, Jenkins, or Bamboo to create continuous integration, deployment, and test automation jobs.
Working knowledge of IT infrastructure automation using technologies such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
Experience with source control systems such as Git, Perforce, or SVN and branching strategies.
Experience with Scripting Languages (Perl, Python, Bash, shell programming) and diagnostic tools.
General IT skills such as working with VMs and basic administration of Windows/Linux/Mac systems.
Broad technical knowledge in networking (TCP/IP, Firewall, Routers/Switches etc.) security and provisioning systems.
Evaluates technology to drive features and roadmaps. Maps technology trends to internal vision. Differentiates buzzwords from value proposition. Embraces technology trends that drive excellence beyond traditional practices (e.g., Test automation in lieu of traditional QA practices).

Conveys the value proposition for the company by assessing financial risks and gains of decisions and return on investment (ROI).
