Role Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer Leader will be a key team member responsible for driving initiatives to ensure safe manufacturing processes that produce a quality product in the most efficient method of manufacture while delivering on the objectives within the Global Supply Chain Management. They will support the manufacturing production and new product introduction teams by optimizing processes, design, sourcing and validation of production tooling and manufacturing processes.
They will lead and support design reviews and production readiness reviews, product transitions, and root cause/corrective action reviews with team members within the facility. Participate in the product design activity to assure optimum productivity and costs and will recommend and implement alternative designs, materials, or processes.
Plan, evaluate and implement manufacturing process engineering activities for new product development and current product support by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials by conferring with equipment vendors, GSCM groups and soliciting observations from technicians.
Work with manufacturing teams including New Product Introduction teams to ensure product readiness, create processes and to identify root cause/corrective action reviews to ensure optimized production and quality standards.
Interface with the sourcing team to drive demand for tooling procurement and providing clarification of the design as required with our tooling vendors.
Provide manufacturing decision-making and recommendations by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements including material, tooling, equipment and other ancillary factors.
Act as a key subject matter expert with the manufacturing team in resolving manufacturing process problems and investigating the use and application of new technology.
Conduct training, process planning, evaluate operating methods, select controls, and specify tools, fixtures and gauges that may be used in the manufacturing process.
Maintain the manufacturing engineering system on part routing and standards.
Execute manufacturing related quality planning activities including continuous improvement and cost reductions and cycle time reduction within the manufacturing operations and monitor and report on actual achievement.
Engineering Degree from an accredited university.
Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience with knowledge of CNC programming and additive manufacturing.
Six Sigma Green belt certified with experience in a Lean (5S Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Error Proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Kaizen Lean Metrics) manufacturing environment.
Strong background in the interpretation of engineering drawings / specifications and manufacturing processes.
Understand geometric tolerance and characteristics of materials used in tool design.
Computer fluency in Microsoft products, Oracle, and familiarity with CAD.
Knowledge of ISO / quality procedures.
Willingness and ability to travel.
Team player with proven mentoring and coaching abilities, demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire others and drive change within the organization to meet on team goals/objectives.
Proven facilitation and team leading skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
