Role Summary: The Materials Development Engineer – GE Additive will utilize their experience and expertise in Aluminum and Steel materials development and processing to collaboratively solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others. You’ll contribute to the overall business strategy and support the launch & development of the Additive business & technologies.
Essential Responsibilities: In addition, you will:
Work well in a highly dynamic and evolving workplace
Take innovative approaches to problem solving
Engage peers and reinforce collaborative approaches to problem solving
Identify projects and solutions that are tied to program goals
Remain current in the state of the art within own technical specialty for new products introduction activity, performance improvements, cost reductions, and problem resolutions
Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and / or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Support other GE businesses, internal and external customers, and suppliers as required
Masters of Science in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science
A minimum of 5 years of experience in working with materials development with Aluminum and different types of Steel
Demonstrated ability in defining the state of the art as it pertains to Aluminum and/or Steel materials development, along with the ability to teach and set standard practices within this field
Experience with steel and aluminum materials development as it pertains to Additive Manufacturing
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
