Role Summary:
The Outside Operator will be under the direction of the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the combined cycle power plant equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:
As the Outside Operator, you will:

  • Monitor and maintain all required data logs / records throughout shift
  • Report any conflicts to the Shift Supervisor
  • Maintain log of equipment meter and gauge readings and record data such as water test results
  • Report any conflicts to the shift supervisor
  • Perform routine inspections and tests to ensure plant is operating at optimal level
  • Complete the routine inspections and assigned tasks to support the site Discharge, Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (DPCC) Plan as well as handle all hazardous materials and wastes in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner
  • Aggressively maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies
  • Assist in shutdown and startup procedures during outages
  • Operate all plant equipment / systems within scope of job responsibility
  • Respond to all alarms and malfunctions of plant operations and takes the necessary corrective measures per the instruction of the shift supervisor
  • Perform maintenance activities as directed
  • Perform Lockout / Tagout duties in accordance with approved procedures
  • Perform other duties as requested, as well as, all reasonable requests from the shift supervisor and/or control room operator



Qualifications/Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years prior experience as an operator in a combined cycle power plant

  • Ability to perform the duties of this job and work on feet for up to 12-hour periods
  • Ability to climb stair and ladder sometimes in excess of 100 feet, routinely lifting 50 pounds; and heavy clean-up work of an industrial site utilizing shovels and brooms
  • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.)
  • Ability to work extended hours of at least 12 hours and rotating shiftwork including weekends and holidays as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions
  • All employees participate in the Fitness for Duty Program which includes post-offer physical examinations and drug screening
  • Ability to perform the duties of this job while you may be exposed to the following: High levels of noise, moving mechanical parts, heights, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical equipment, high pressure steam and outside weather conditions
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
