Role Summary: The Outside Operator will be under the direction of the Shift Supervisor is responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the combined cycle power plant equipment.
Essential Responsibilities: As the Outside Operator, you will:
Monitor and maintain all required data logs / records throughout shift
Report any conflicts to the Shift Supervisor
Maintain log of equipment meter and gauge readings and record data such as water test results
Report any conflicts to the shift supervisor
Perform routine inspections and tests to ensure plant is operating at optimal level
Complete the routine inspections and assigned tasks to support the site Discharge, Prevention, Containment and Countermeasures (DPCC) Plan as well as handle all hazardous materials and wastes in a safe and environmentally sensitive manner
Aggressively maintain a safe working environment to include good housekeeping practices of assigned work area and comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety policies
Assist in shutdown and startup procedures during outages
Operate all plant equipment / systems within scope of job responsibility
Respond to all alarms and malfunctions of plant operations and takes the necessary corrective measures per the instruction of the shift supervisor
Perform maintenance activities as directed
Perform Lockout / Tagout duties in accordance with approved procedures
Perform other duties as requested, as well as, all reasonable requests from the shift supervisor and/or control room operator
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Minimum of 3 years prior experience as an operator in a combined cycle power plant
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
Ability to perform the duties of this job and work on feet for up to 12-hour periods
Ability to climb stair and ladder sometimes in excess of 100 feet, routinely lifting 50 pounds; and heavy clean-up work of an industrial site utilizing shovels and brooms
Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, and high voltage protective equipment, etc.)
Ability to work extended hours of at least 12 hours and rotating shiftwork including weekends and holidays as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions
All employees participate in the Fitness for Duty Program which includes post-offer physical examinations and drug screening
Ability to perform the duties of this job while you may be exposed to the following: High levels of noise, moving mechanical parts, heights, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical equipment, high pressure steam and outside weather conditions
Proficient using Microsoft Office
Strong oral and written communication skills
