Role Summary:
As a Data Lake Operations Engineer in the Data & Analytics domain within the Budapest Digital Hub, You will work closely with the team and different GE businesses to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions. You will be a member of an integrated squad (data scientists, data engineers, software engineers and a product owner) to deliver successful outcomes driving efficiency and creating new revenue streams.

Essential Responsibilities:
    As a Data Lake Operations Engineer, we need You to play vital role in keeping our data lake
    infrastructure running for our business stakeholders.
    We count on your creativity, fresh ideas and outside-in perspective to get even better, even
    further, even faster!
    Your day to day tasks will involve:
  • Operate state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions leveraging big data tools and
    technologies in the Data Lake.
  • Demonstrate technical expertise across data lake technologies to efficiently troubleshoot and
    improve application performance and availability.
  • Follow ITIL standards for change, problem, request, incident management.
  • Define root cause failures and develop solutions for proper controls/prevention.
  • Work across multiple cross-functional and cross-business teams in high visibility roles and own
    the data solution end-to-end.
  • Provide daily break fix support to multiple businesses of the Data Lake that hosts solutions
    from ingestion through consumption.
  • Seek and deliver continuous improvement opportunities to optimize application performance,
    data quality & accuracy, application availability and operational optimization.
  • Develop and/or enhance support process standards, communication, tracking, escalation and
    resolution.
  • Assist the business/development teams in the production cutover planning and preparations of
    the Data and Analytics solutions.
  • Drive the review and production deployments of Data and Analytics solutions to the Production
    Data Lake environment.
  • Assist and support proof of concepts and new technology introductions for installation,
    configuration and validation.
  • Adopt a FastWorks mindset to support and operate Business data and analytics projects.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems,
    Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering from an accredited
    college/university or equivalent
  • Strong
    Database, Data Warehouse, SQL experience (PostgreSQL, Oracle, Terradata, Greenplum, Hive).

  • Nice to have: familiarity with Cloud services
    and architecture
  • Strong experience with any
    ETL system
  • Good English skills (written
    and spoken).
  • Positive attitude and team player.
  • Familiarity
    with Linux (e.g. RedHat, Oracle Linux, CentOS),
    experience in administration and scripting experience is more than
    welcome


Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong experience in Advanced Analytics, Big Data,
    Data Warehousing or Business Intelligence (BI).
  • Ability
    to work effectively across functions in a matrix environment.
  • Experience with BI, Reporting and/or Analytics.
  • Strong understanding of logical and physical
    data models, big data storage architecture, data modeling methodologies, metadata management,
    master data management, data lineage & data profiling.
  • Resourceful
    and quick learner, with the ability to efficiently seek out, learn, and
    apply new areas of expertise , as needed.
  • Change oriented, with the ability to actively
    generates process improvements, support and drives change, and confront difficult circumstances
    in creative ways.
  • Experience
    with script
    languages (e.g. Bash, Python)
  • Basic knowledge
    of Java
    programming and/or application servers
  • Any experience with Data
    Integration technologies such as HVR is a plus
