Role Summary: The Component Engineer masterminds the technology leadership of the Global Library of electronic components used in GEHC products. He/she will lead reviews of components required for product designs, create & update component roadmaps, maintain components library and support ongoing requirements of components throughout their lifecycle (change management, obsolescence etc.)
Essential Responsibilities: • Lead component review process for technology, manufacturability, and compliance requirements locally; in collaboration with global component review board, product engineering, and Sourcing • Research component data sheets and technical specifications and evaluate technical attributes of components to identify & recommend alternate sources for obsolete or high cost components. • Develop & maintain GEHC component technology roadmaps, based on industry trends and GEHC requirements. Communicate roadmaps to engineering community. • Support product design teams in component selection, specification reviews, and failure analysis. • Work with external stakeholders including suppliers to drive new improvements into the Global Library and design practices.
Qualifications/Requirements: • Bachelors in Electrical / Electronics engineering • 3 years of relevant industrial experience in design and development • Knowledge & experience in selecting & qualifying electronic components • Knowledge of electronic components suppliers/vendors & market for latest trends and technology • Knowledge of component failure modes & reliability • Knowledge of electronic component package types, including board mounted interconnect • Ability to read and understand component datasheets and interpret electrical and mechanical specifications including 3-dimensional component views • Experience with creating a schematic and board layout in Cadence or similar CAD tool • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills • Self-starter, results oriented, and able to multi-task • Aware of electronics components life cycle management • Complete understanding/working knowledge of engineering design documentation and standard document control practices
Desired Characteristics: • Experience with GEHC tools— PLM systems (MyWorkshop and/or Agile), SQCS, ESMART • Experience with Cadence tools • Knowledge of RoHS environmental compliance requirements and compliance, IPC1752 documents, and other material declarations • Depth of knowledge in one or more specific electrical component types • Knowledge of circuit board DFx (manufacturing, testing, reliability, etc) • Experience with global & cross-functional teamwork
